At AlphA and Omega Dog Training, we take a distinctive and balanced approach to dog training. Unlike some methods that rely solely on treats and clickers, or the overly dominant methods of other trainers, we opt for a more respectful and effective way to build a connection with your dog.

For fundamental commands like heel, sit, down, stay, and come, we emphasize that your dog should follow these commands out of respect for your role as their leader. Our philosophy rejects the extremes of excessive treats and gimmicks as well as overly intimidating tactics. After all, nobody, not even dogs, appreciates a bully. We aim to foster respect, not fear, and seek your dog’s willingness to listen when necessary.

Building a Foundation

Our training process begins with the establishment of a strong rapport with your dog. Regardless of your dog’s temperament or disposition, we meet them where they are psychologically. We believe in allowing your dog the freedom to make mistakes, as this provides opportunities for proper and effective correction and facilitates the learning process. Without a proper or effective correction, your dog cannot learn from their mistakes.

It’s important to note that our corrections are not punitive; they are designed to reshape behavior positively. We acknowledge that treats can be excellent motivators for tricks and specialized training. However, for essential commands, we expect dogs to perform them automatically, without the need for treats.
